Three antique brass buttons featuring the Great Seal eagle design with shield, arrows, and olive branch. These are small uniform-size buttons, approximately 5/8" diameter, with a convex profile.The backs are the real story here. Each has a clearly legible maker's backmark reading "GOODWIN" with additional text around the rim. Goodwin & Sons was a prominent 19th century American button manufacturer, and their backmarks are actively sought by Civil War and military button collectors.Wire loop shanks on the back, all intact. The fronts show wear consistent with actual use on a uniform, with the eagle design still clearly visible but softened from age. Some patina and surface oxidation on the backs.These deserve proper identification by a military button specialist.
