Vintage 1927 Universal Design Book No. 25 — Builder's Woodwork (356 Pages) Special Custom Edition featuring a raised, gold/brass colored stamped metal cover insert for M.A. Disbrow & Co. Nearly a true century-old antique!Up for sale is a wonderful piece of early 20th-century architectural and trade history for historical reference only. This massive reference catalog is a complete 356-page trade manual that served as the definitive guide for builders, contractors, and architects during the late 1920s building boom. It features hundreds of highly detailed illustrations, dimensions, and specifications for historic doors, windows, stairways, and interior trim layout designs.The front cover is uniquely personalized with a striking, raised gold-colored brass/bronze metal cover insert for M.A. Disbrow & Co., highlighting their historic hubs in Clinton, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska; and Cheyenne, Wyoming. (Please note: the insert is a standard industrial base metal with a vintage gold-toned finish, not precious gold metal). This makes it an exceptional crossover addition for collectors of regional Midwest industrial history, antique tools, or traditional carpentry.This book is in Good/Fair Vintage Condition with honest, beautiful character from a lifetime in a workshop environment. Please review the specific condition notes below and pictures before buying:Clear Dust Jacket: This jacket shows normal age-appropriate handling wear, light crinkling, and minor edge splits from age, but it has done an excellent job preserving the primary hardcover beneath it.Cover: Shows minor shelf wear, light edge rubbing, and expected surface scuffing. The custom gold/bronze colored metal cover insert is fully intact, firmly seated, and retains bright visual detailing with a beautiful aged patina.Spine & Binding: The binding remains structurally secure, tight, and intact. The 356 Pages: The interior pages are complete. Exhibits general age-toning, a couple of minor dog-eared (corner-folded) pages from past workshop reference, some small stains, and vintage foxing (browning/spotting) scattered across various pages consistent with its 99-year age. There are also some pencil notations, designs, and measurements on several pages.Ink Staining: There is a historic dark ink stain on the bottom right corner of the inside back cover and a couple on the last index page, likely from an old workshop inkwell spill. Please note: the black ink is over some of the text, but you can still read it.
