Vintage 1940s Elgin American “Lite-O-Magic” Philip Morris English Ovals Smoker’s SetRare mid-century smoker’s companion made by Elgin American Mfg. Co., a division of the Elgin National Watch Company. This luxury brass cigarette case with integrated “Lite-O-Magic” lighter was produced for Philip Morris & Co. as part of their English Ovals Special Inserts promotion, redeemable through June 30, 1946. Manufacturer: Elgin American Mfg. Co., U.S.A. For: Philip Morris & Co., Ltd., Inc. Patent: D-151,271 (issued 1940) Material: Gilt brass with engine-turned interior pattern Includes: Original 1946 Special Insert (front & reverse), presentation box, and cloth linerCondition:– Case and lighter show visible wear and patina consistent with regular use.– Push-button case release works perfectly — the spring opens the case smoothly.– When the case is closed, the lighter automatically pops open — an ingenious “Lite-O-Magic” design feature unique to Elgin.– Lighter is untested due to lack of fuel.– Original insert is intact and legible; box shows light age wear.This complete Elgin-Philip Morris collaboration is a true collector’s piece — a functional Art Deco design and a piece of 1940s tobacco advertising history.Ships insured and securely packaged for collectors.
