Sweetheart pins were special pieces of jewelry that showed you had a loved one on the front lines. They were often made for soldiers to send to loved ones, and these pins were worn with pride.<br><br>Sweetheart pins came in many forms, including brooches, pendants, and bracelets, and could be made from a variety of materials, such as sterling silver, celluloid, bakelite, or mother-of-pearl. Mamy times due to rationing, many of these pieces of these pieces were made of wood, celluloid, bakelite or other materials<br><br>Sweetheart Jewelry & Even these pins were also used as a way to express support for American troops in general.<br><br>This particular pin is a celluloid background with an officer insignia in brass in a round dome brass setting. It does need a careful cleaning due to age the materials are very delicate when it comes to cleaning. Also review pictures to see the discoloration to the brass tone on the edge of the pin.
