Item Description:This listing features a genuine World War I era formal portrait of a U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division soldier, housed in its original, rare compact antique oval wood frame with convex (bubble) glass.Item Details:Subject: WWI Enlisted Soldier wearing the historic 2nd Infantry Division (Indianhead) star insignia patch on his shoulder uniform.Dimensions: Approximately 6-3/8 inches x 5-3/8 inches (Outer frame dimensions).Frame: Small multi-tiered oval wood frame with original gold-toned inner liner and convex bubble glass.Backing: Period-authentic handmade pin nails, original wood backing board, and protective paper barrier.Markings: The original studio gelatin silver negative catalog number (69602) is visible on the lower-left edge of the photograph.Condition:Photograph: Excellent vintage clarity with minimal aging or silvering.Glass: Genuine period convex glass with authentic rough-cut hand-chipped perimeter edges. Intact with no cracks.Frame Ring: The inner golden-colored wood liner has split at the top and bottom joint seams due to century-old glue drying out. The wood tension is fully relieved, and both halves remain structurally wedged and stable within the outer frame.*Acquired from an estate and have not attempted to remove back plate to reveal any writing or information on back of photo.--These items are part of an estate from a collector and carpenter by trade (descended from other crafts-persons, mostly in Connecticut).
