Item Description:This listing features a genuine World War I era formal portrait of a U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division soldier. Item Details:Subject: WWI Enlisted Soldier wearing the historic 2nd Infantry Division (Indianhead) star insignia patch on his shoulder uniform.Dimensions: Approximately 7-1/4 inches x 5-1/4 inches.Frame: Authentic antique stamped sheet steel oval frame featuring a smooth, period black coating finish. Lightweight yet durable construction with integrated flexible metal backing tabs.Glass: Original period shallow-convex glass pane featuring authentic, rough-cut hand-chipped perimeter edges and characteristic vintage green edge tint.Matting & Repairs: The photograph is housed within a black textured paper matting that has been reinforced on the reverse side with a 33 lb. weight stock sheet of professional Canson Ingres laid art paper (No. 28, Color 18). A horizontal fold split across the center has been neatly stabilized on the back using translucent paper framing tape, keeping the front presentation clean.Backing: Features a gray cardboard dust backing board secured by the frame's flexible steel tabs.Markings: The original studio negative catalog number (69602) is clearly visible on the lower-left edge of the photograph. The reverse cardboard backing bears a vintage pencil signature reading "M. Esal" or something similar.Process: Original crisp black-and-white silver gelatin print with strong contrast.Condition:Photograph: Excellent vintage condition with crisp visual detail.Frame: Excellent antique structural integrity.
