DescriptionAn authentic, factory-original Edwardian-era metal-clad frame retailed by the Walter L. Lillie Company of Columbus, Ohio. This piece features a beautifully cast gilded brass exterior wrapped over a solid wood core, topped with an intricate, pierced Rococo-revival crest. The portrait opening is elegantly bordered by a firm, horizontally ribbed slate blue/gray silk faille textile liner.Housed inside is a gorgeous, original turn-of-the-century portrait print depicting an elegant Edwardian woman styled in a classic "Gibson Girl" pompadour hairstyle and high-lace collar. The reverse retains its pristine, highly collectible red paper maker's label specifying the historic 184 S. High St. address, confirming the frame and photo have remained sealed together since they left the workshop over 115 years ago.DetailsMaker: Walter L. The fabric liner shows minor fading and a light diagonal age mark at the top left but retains perfect tension. The gilded brass finish shows an authentic, uncleaned vintage patina.-These items are part of an estate from a collector and carpenter by trade (descended from other crafts-persons, mostly in Connecticut).
