OverviewUp for sale is an authentic, original Persian wedding mirror from the Qajar Dynasty period, dating strictly from the late 19th to early 20th century. This is a genuine historical artifact of the era, completely handcrafted and showcasing exceptional Period craftsmanship on both sides.SpecificationsDimensions: approx. 8 ix 12 inchesProvenance: Authentic Qajar Period (Persia, c. 1880-1920).Material: Heavy silver-plated brass sheet metal frame built over its original, foundational inner wood core. The front surface retains its original translucent gold-tinted lacquer wash layered directly over the bright silver relief work.Front Design: Exquisite hand-chased floral blossoms and scrolling leaf vines framing a classic architectural mihrab arch glass mirror pane. Masterfully accented with original cobalt and turquoise blue cold enamel fills.Reverse Design: A magnificent, continuous courtly narrative scene depicting a royal garden banquet (Mejlis) featuring the central noble couple, attendants, dancers, and traditional musicians. The central scene is framed by a highly structural border of 14 individual portrait medallions and crowned with a protective 5-pointed talismanic star motif.Construction: Completely unaltered, 100% original fabrication using the period-correct mechanical crimping and wrapping method. The metal sheets remain entirely original without modifications.ConditionOverall antique condition is excellent, boasting a deep, rich, completely unpolished dark gray and black tarnish patina highlighting the chased details.The original period mirror glass shows authentic surface hazing, dust, and minor micro-scratches reflective of its 100+ year history.The delicate cold-enamel paint sections on the front display honest, expected flaking and micro-chipping that strictly verifies its age and historical authenticity.Natural wear from manual handling over the last century has rubbed the thin silver wash off the highest high-relief points and outermost folded corner seams, beautifully exposing the golden brass undertones.The internal structural wooden core remains flat, sound, stable, and completely free of warping or structural splitting.Sold as-is.--These items are part of an estate from a collector and carpenter by trade (descended from other crafts-persons, mostly in Connecticut).
