Overview:Up for sale is a factory-matched pair of vintage Ohm Model E Electrodynamic 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers. Acquired directly from the estate of a single original owner who cared for their audio gear, these units are in exceptional internal structural condition. Built by Ohm Acoustics Corp. in Brooklyn, NY during the mid-to-late 1970s, the Model E features sealed acoustic suspension engineering to deliver highly accurate midrange presence and signature musical warmth.Official Factory Specifications (From pictured Period Literature, not included):Overall Size: 21.5" H x 11.5" W x 7.25" DWeight: Approximately 17 lbs. per speaker (unpacked)Low Frequency Woofer: 8-inch unit, 5-oz. ferrite magnet, 1-inch voice coilHigh Frequency Tweeter: 2-inch unit with phenolic ring surround, 2.2-oz. ferrite magnet, 9/16-inch voice coilCrossover Frequency: 1700 HzEnclosure Design: Completely sealed (Acoustic Suspension)Impedance (Maximum Nominal/Minimum): 20 ohms - 8/6 ohmsFrequency Response (Minimum Spec): 65 to 19,000 Hz +/- 4 dBApproximate Recommended Amplifier Power: 7 Watts minimum (RMS) up to 50 Watts maximum (RMS)Inputs / Controls: Push Connector inputs with a 3-position rear Tweeter Level selector switchCabinet Material: 5/8" flakeboard stock with an oiled-walnut finishProvenance & Care History:Single-Owner Estate Asset (consecutive serial numbers factory pair): Maintained strictly by one audiophile owner who prioritized fine equipment preservation.Clean Environment: Housed exclusively in a smoke-free, pet-free, and climate-controlled home.Zero Modifications: 100% stock factory condition with no personal markings, ink handwriting, or unoriginal circuit repairs.Technical Condition & Testing:Fully bench-tested with a digital multimeter to guarantee internal crossover and circuit voice coil health.Perfect Sonic Symmetry: Both cabinets register a perfectly mirrored, healthy 7.3 ohms of DC resistance, confirming perfectly balanced internal voice coils and fully operational passive circuitry.Sounds amazing -- connected to a receiver to test acoustic output (see video, *note volume was real low but these can crank; Luxman R-1070 receiver sold separately) Driver & Cosmetic Condition:Flawless Front Baffles: The 8-inch woofers utilize original factory concave rubber roll surrounds rather than standard foam (no rot). They remain supple, flexible, and are completely immune to vintage foam rot.Center Dust Caps: Pristine white-and-black original Ohm factory center badges are flat, crisp, and completely un-crushed.Tweeter Array: Upper 2-inch cone tweeters are perfectly protected behind original metal mesh screens that show no dents or rust.Rear Panels: Features pristine consecutive, sequential factory serial number aluminum foil plates confirming a true matched pair. The 3-position rear toggle switches (0dB, -3dB, -6dB Tweeter Level Control) are mechanically crisp.Cabinetry & Wood Veneer Cosmetics: The walnut cabinetry is structurally intact, with tight seams and no deep gouges. The left cabinet has a slightly warmer wood tone variation than the right. Reflecting typical aging for a late-1970s factory finish, the top panels exhibit common cosmetic wear. This includes light surface haze, minor moisture marks, and a textured feel to the touch. The wood underneath is solid, without evidence of structural rot or soft spots. This surface finish degradation is a common condition that typically responds well to standard cleaning, light prepping, and a fresh oil or topcoat application by the next owner.Grille Assemblies: Black fabric grilles sit flush and are entirely free of tears, fraying, or fabric snags, sporting both original metal Ohm badges; the attach to the cabinets via Velcro.Historical Context Quote:To quote the winter 1974 Canadian Stereo Guide AudioFile Test Report for this exact model line: "It’s just an ordinary speaker to look at. But when you fire it up, it’s something else again... let me assure you, it handles Chopin and pretty well anything else from accordion to zither with equal dexterity."Condition Statement:This vintage audio equipment has been visually inspected, continuity-tested for electronic integrity, and acoustically sampled as described, and is sold as-is. Images of specs and speaker review come from period literature, which are not included in this listing.### Local pickup in Farmington CT is preferred over shipping--These items are part of an estate from a collector and carpenter by trade (descended from other crafts-persons, mostly in Connecticut).
