While highly sought-after by vintage budget-audiophile collectors for their surprisingly warm sound, information on this exact 300 model remains incredibly scarce. Production History The Canadian Era: In the late 1990s, the original Dahlquist company went insolvent and its naming rights were purchased by Audiosphere Research. The PDQ Series Lineup: Audiosphere launched the "Performance Dynamic Quality" (PDQ) series to build an upscale product line using premium components compared to their generic house brands. A Hidden Gem: Because Audiosphere had limited upscale distribution, the PDQ line (which also included models like the PDQ-16, PDQ-607, and PDQ-827) saw very low production numbers. Design & Sound Characteristics Though physical documentation for the PDQ-300 is difficult to track down, it shares identical build philosophies and component DNA with the rest of the highly rated PDQ family: Premium Drivers: The series heavily utilized high-quality Vifa Danish-designed tweeters and rubber waveguides to create an incredibly neutral and smooth top-end dynamic response. Cabinet Design: They feature heavy particle-board cabinets that present minor internal modal ringing but grant the speakers a very distinct, pleasing acoustic warmth. Sonic Profile: Enthusiasts report that the PDQ lineup produces an expansive vocal presence and heavy, prominent bass response that easily fills a room with acoustic energy.
