This listing features a genuine vintage mid-century General Electric Show 'N Tell Picturesound Phono-Viewer audio-visual entertainment console. Styled to resemble a classic retro tabletop television set, this model features a vibrant red and cream plastic shell housing an upper record player deck and a lower display projector screen layout. Included with the main viewer unit is a generous library collection of 12 vintage storybook programs and illustrated companion records.Specifications:Brand: General Electric (GE)Model Number: A-600Product Line: Solid State Show 'N Tell Phono-ViewerEra: Verifiable 1964 First-Year Production (Ink stamped NOV 18 1964 on rear label)Country of Manufacture: United States (Made in USA)Controls: Front-mounted mechanical rotary On-Off/Volume dial, side-mounted slide advancement column, and vertical Focus optical slider leverPower Connectivity: Features its original attached, color-matched red AC power cord with integrated rear storage wrap cleatsIncluded 12-Disc Media Breakdown:6 Standard Paper Show 'N Tell Sleeves with internal 7-inch records, including classic licensed Disney titles (101 Dalmatians, Snow White, Cinderella) and classic historical adventures (George Washington's Surprise Attack, Prince & the Pauper, Treasure Island). The folders open to reveal fully intact internal storybooks, records, and instructional panels. Back covers feature the original product checklist lines from the GE Radio Receiver Department.6 Laminated Cardboard Flat Records/Sound Sheets, featuring pop-culture, commercial, and sports collectibles including a vintage 1963 Willie Mays San Francisco Giants bio/stats record, a 1968 Mattel Dancerina Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite record, a Burger King Pledge of Allegiance Red Skelton promo, a psychedelic 1969 Swingy pattern disc, and two vintage Jackson 5 cereal box cutout records.Condition:Cosmetic State: The main plastic console housing appears to be in good cosmetic shape, showing expected light surface dust and very minor wear from age and long-term storage. No visible structural body cracks or major external defects are noticeable upon inspection. The plastic underside cover panel for the tonearm is missing, leaving the internal tonearm wiring exposed. The media collection shows typical edge and spine wear consistent with vintage paper storage items, but the internal pages, record faces, and cardboard backs are clean and well-preserved.Operational State: The unit has been partially tested. When plugged into a power source and turned on, the main console successfully powers up and the internal projection light bulb visibly illuminates. However, the turntable platter does not automatically rotate when the tonearm is moved over the record bed. Due to the missing tonearm cover panel, the mechanical turntable issue, the lack of full electronic testing, and the fact that all 12 accompanying records are completely untested, the unit is being offered strictly as a nostalgic display piece, repair project, or for parts. Sold as-is.--These items are part of an estate from a collector and carpenter by trade (descended from other crafts-persons, mostly in Connecticut). Payment required within 48 hours of auction's end.
