Overview:Up for sale is a rare vintage 1951–1956 Westclox "Sphinx" electric alarm clock, model series S7-H. Boasting a striking trapezoidal wedge-shaped light wood cabinet, a deep forest green dial face, and atomic-era brass accents, this iconic timepiece serves as an exceptional piece of mid-century modern (MCM) shelf decor, design prop, or interior display accent. This listing compiles information across multiple angles to show its beautiful vintage cosmetic state.Specifications:Brand: Westclox (Western Clock Co.)Model Series: Sphinx (Model S7-H Configuration)Production Era: Circa 1951–1956Design Aesthetic: Mid-Century Modern / Atomic / Eames Era stylingCabinet Profile: Trapezoid geometric wedge wood case featuring a step-back top mantel molding trim and dual decorative polished brass ball-link accent feetFace & Dial Layout: Convex bubble glass lens covering a deep forest green dial plate, gold-leaf Arabic hour numerals, luminous tracking dots, polished hands, and a dedicated red alarm setting dot indicator indexPower Configuration: Attached long, brown 2-conductor insulated electrical power cord line ending in a molded retro matching two-prong non-polarized AC wall plug headManufacturing Origin: Made in U.S.A. (La Salle, Illinois)Condition:Cosmetic Condition: The natural blond-finished wood casing is in beautiful display condition, remaining structurally stable with minor surface handling scuffs, faint edge rubbing along the corner boundaries, and light storage dust that adds to its authentic vintage character. The rear off-white metallic component cap is intact with light paint scuffs, and the knurled brass controls show a handsome age tarnish. The attached brown power cable is physically intact but is on the brittle side due to age-related vinyl hardening. The convex glass shield is unbroken and clear.Operational State: The unit did not function when plugged in and is being sold as a non-working decorative object, design prop, or restoration project. The internal motor does not run, and it does not keep time. The rear mechanical adjustment knobs turn properly by hand, the alarm plunger pull post engages smoothly, and the structural base hinges flex correctly. This vintage item is being sold as-is.--These items are part of an estate from a collector and carpenter by trade (descended from other crafts-persons, mostly in Connecticut).
