Here's your chance to own a tangible piece of music history: an original backstage pass lot from James Taylor’s legendary first-ever performance at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts on July 30, 1974. Linda Ronstadt performed as the opener. This concert was part of Taylor's Walking Man tour and marked the beginning of a historic 50-year relationship between Taylor and the venue that continues to this day. This lot included two items:Tanglewood Satin-Cloth Backstage Credential: Printed in green, this authentic, fabric sticky pass features the Tanglewood White Pine logo, show date, and the words BACKSTAGE PASS (though the last word is obscured by wear). The 3.5" x 2.5" pass also identifies the Boston Symphony Orchestra and famous Boston-area promoter Don Law as the presenters.Walking Man Tour '74 Card: An original 4" x 3" companion card featuring the bold "Walking Man Tour '74" typography. Has vintage handwriting on the front that may spell Musician. Though the word is partially obscured, it is a compelling clue suggesting the lot may have been issued to a member of the performing ensemble or the inner tour circle for this historic Tanglewood debut.For the James Taylor superfan or the collector of 1970s concert ephemera, these are quintessential survivor pieces that don't often become available. While they show the honest wear of a night spent backstage at one of the most famous venues in America, they remain powerful artifacts of the era when James Taylor was cementing his status as a global icon.Condition: These items are being sold as historical artifacts in Poor to Fair physical condition. The satin cloth pass shows wear including deformation around the edges, common for fabric passes peeled from clothing 50 years ago. It no longer retains its adhesive backing. The tour card shows heavy fragmentation, paper loss, and age-appropriate staining. Removing it from the plastic sleeve may cause additional damage. Both items remain legible and are ideal candidates for professional framing or a shadowbox display.Shipping: Items are carefully padded and packed to survive shipping.
