Here is an exceptional, authenticated 19th-century English library table and writing desk crafted by the premier British cabinetmakers Howard & Sons (Berners St., London). This exquisite historic piece serves beautifully in a modern home as an executive desk, console table, or a striking sofa table anchor.Authenticity & HardwareThis piece is fully vetted and features the highly coveted, original "HOWARD & SONS" maker's stamp cleanly impressed into the top edge of a drawer face. It stands on its original, precision-engineered "COPE'S PATENT" brass cup casters.Materials & CraftsmanshipBuilt to last generations with mixed-wood construction typical of premium 19th-century workshop furniture. The top consists of thick, solid, open-grained mahogany.. The internal structural framing is European oak, ensuring incredible stability. The cabinetry highlights exceptional, traditional bench joinery. There are two drawers and a lower shelf.Dimensions48” W x 27” D x 29.5” HCondition & PatinaStructurally sound with a rich, authentic aged patina. Notable features include minor dormant character marks and a tight, stable age separation along the top wood join. Drawers slide easily and hardware is entirely original, but there are some modern screws on one dresser and a piece of drawer trim needs repaired. I have the piece. Castors are original and roll freely. Some minor surface wear present consistent with a 19th-century history. Review photos closely and I will be happy to send additional photos and answer any questions.Shipping & Local Pickup PolicyFree local pickup is available by appointment.Carrier Choice: Buyers are welcome to arrange transportation through any shipping company or freight service of their choice.
