Very good pre-owned condition. Comes in cardboard box, with Instructions for the use of the B-29 & B-29A Load Adjuster, and the Load Adjuster Slide Rule. The cardboard box still provides a firm protection to the instructions and slide rule. Label on box identifies Airplane Model, Plate No., Type and Serial No. Outer shell of box shows wear. Instructions have been folded to fit inside the cardboard box and has some browning and slight tears. The slide rule is in very good condition and has matching serial numbers on slide and frame. This specialized mechanical computer was a vital flight safety instrument used by the B-29 Flight Engineer (Type ENG) to calculate the aircraft's weight distribution and center of gravity before and during long-range bombing missions in the Pacific theater. This specific unit features the official military designation REWORKED with Plate # EA803. The slide rule was sent back to a depot or Cox & Stevens to be re-recalibrated and physically modified to reflect the new weight and balance formula. The original paper instruction sheet is fully intact, clean, and in very good condition.
