RARE BETAMAX TAPE School Daze 1988 Spike Lee FACTORY SEALED TAB BETA NOT VHS RCA Description: ATTENTION COLLECTORS: THIS IS A RARE BETAMAX (BETA) TAPE — NOT A STANDARD VHS TAPE Up for sale is an extremely scarce, original 1988 1st Edition BETAMAX release of Spike Lee’s iconic classic SCHOOL DAZE, distributed by RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video. By 1988, the home video format war was rapidly wrapping up, and video studios produced only a tiny fraction of Betamax tapes compared to standard VHS formats. Finding a major studio release from 1988 in Beta format—especially factory-secured and unplayed—is an absolute rarity for tape archivists and Black Cinema collectors. WHY THIS IS A RARE COLLECTOR'S GRAIL: • Genuine Betamax (Beta) Cassette Format: Significantly rarer than the VHS release. • Factory Security Seal Intact: Features the original unbroken RCA/Columbia Pictures security tab across the top flap of the cardboard slipcase. • Unplayed / New Old Stock Condition: The intact top tab guarantees the tape has remained safely housed inside the slipcase without play wear. • Historical 1988 First Edition: Released by RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video during the height of 1980s cinema history. STAR-STUDDED CAST & CREW (ALL LISTED ON COVER): • Directed, Written, and Produced by: Spike Lee • Starring: Laurence Fishburne (credited as Larry Fishburne), Giancarlo Esposito, Tisha Campbell, Kyme, Joe Seneca, Art Evans, Ellen Holly, and Ossie Davis (as Coach Odom) • Casting by: Robi Reed • Original Score by: Bill Lee • Production Design by: Wynn Thomas • Choreography by: Otis Sallid PRODUCT DETAILS & SPECS: • Title: School Daze (1988) • Studio/Distributor: RCA / Columbia Pictures Home Video • Catalog Number / Format: Betamax / Beta (Color, NTSC, Hi-Fi Stereo) • Running Time: Approx. 114 Minutes • MPAA Rating: R • Condition: Overall it is in excellent vintage condition. The box is well-preserved with the top factory security seal 100% intact and unbroken. Please look at all pictures to verify the box condition and make sure it is acceptable to you before purchasing.
