Beautiful vintage Chinese porcelain celadon ceramic teapot. This piece features a striking light mint-green celadon glaze with a distinct, fine crackle finish.The belly of the teapot is decorated in underglaze blue with rows of different calligraphic variations of the Chinese character "Shou", representing longevity, health, and long life. The underside of the base features an apocryphal underglaze blue six-character mark referencing the Ming Dynasty (Xuande period), though this piece is a mid-to-late 20th-century vintage export/decorative revival piece. An excellent addition to any Asian ceramic collection or a wonderful statement piece for mid-century modern home decor. Regarding the bottom<br/>(see picture 5) someone had written on it with permanent marker at some point and when I removed it, it had sunken into the crackle finish. No chips or cracks. Measures 6" tall with the lid and 8 3/4" from handle to spout.
