This set features a highly collectible regional Iowa piece from the historic Schreiber & Conchar Mfg. Co. of Dubuque, paired with a classic solid cast iron flat iron. Please note: Due to a structural flaw on the Schreiber & Conchar iron, this set is being sold as-is and is best suited as rustic decorative display pieces, bookends, or doorstops. Detailed Item Breakdown 1. Schreiber & Conchar Mfg. Co. Sad Iron (Dubuque, Iowa) Design: Features a curved wooden handle with a metal latch release mechanism. Markings: Embossed on the top plate with "SCHREIBER & CONCHAR" on one side and "MFG. CO. DUBUQUE IOWA" on the other. Condition Note (Please Read): The wood handle itself is solid with beautiful natural aging, but there is a significant, deep crack running through the top metal plate near the front nose. Because of this crack, the top plate and handle are unstable, causing the iron to wobble significantly when picked up. It is highly recommended strictly for static display rather than regular handling. 2. Solid Cast Iron Sad Iron Design: A heavy, solid cast iron iron featuring an ornate metal handle with a distinctive embossed diamond-hatch (criss-cross) textured grip. Patina & Finish: Covered in a beautiful, uniform, and highly textured orange-brown rust patina for a fantastic, untouched primitive aesthetic. Condition: Structurally excellent with a solid handle and a smooth, intact soleplate showing wonderful natural corrosion and weathering. No cracks or structural damage.
