Up for sale is a beautiful, hand-painted miniature character jug depicting the Dickensian character Tony Weller. This piece was crafted by the renowned Lancaster & Sandland Ltd. in Hanley, England. It features a high-gloss glaze and classic mid-century British ceramic styling. Product Details: Manufacturer: Lancaster & Sandland Ltd. (Sandland Ware) Subject: Tony Weller (from Dickens' Pickwick Papers) Material: Hand-painted Earthenware/Ceramic Origin: Made in Hanley, Staffordshire, England Era: Circa 1944–1950s Dimensions: Approximately 3 inches tall (refer to photos for exact measurements). Condition: The jug is in excellent vintage condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some minor, age-appropriate crazing visible under close inspection (common for Sandland Ware of this age), which adds to its authentic vintage character. Colors remain vibrant and the glaze is bright. Key Features: Embossed "WELLER" name on the base. Original green backstamp on bottom: "Lancaster & Sandland Ltd. Hand Painted In England.
