Created using the traditional art of Chokin—originally used to adorn the armor of Samurai warriors—these pieces feature intricate metal engravings gilded with gold and silver accents. Each plate beautifully depicts delicate Iris flowers and fluttering butterflies, set against a striking glossy black porcelain background with a heavy 24KT gold rim and inner border. What’s Included: 2 Matching Miniature Plates (Approx. 3.75" diameter) 2 Brown Plastic Interlocking Display Stands (As shown in photos) Product Marks & Provenance: Artist Signature: Traditional characters are engraved directly into the front metal insert face (see close-up in photo #4). Backstamp reads: "The ART OF CHOKIN. Metal engravings from Japan are created by the ancient art of Chokin. Gilded with gold and silver, the engravings were originally created to decorate the armament of the SAMURAI warriors. Made in Japan. FOR LESSER & PAVEY LTD." Condition Report: Front Details: The etched metal inserts are bright, crisp, and beautifully detailed. The colors on the irises and butterflies remain vibrant. Porcelain & Gold Trim: The glossy black finish and 24KT gold edging are bright. Under close inspection and specific lighting, there are very light, faint surface scuffs on the black glaze finish consistent with age and handling (see close-up photos). Overall: No chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The backstamps are clean and perfectly legible. Stands are in excellent, fully functional condition.
