<p>Rare pocket watch fob by early American men’s jewelry maker Bates and Bacon. This watch fob chain dates to the late Victorian era, dated sept 22, 1901. It is 14k gold filled and weighs 19 grams. It extends 19 inches with the chain. The hook at the end of the chain is marked by the early American jewlery maker Bates and Bacon. It features an ornate decorative top with scrollwork and floral motifs typical of the period, with multiple chains that would have held a pocket watch and possibly other accessories. Watch fobs were essential accessories for gentlemen during this period, allowing them to securely carry their pocket watches while displaying their social status. Collectors of American Victorian and Edwardian men's accessories particularly value these items for their craftsmanship, intricate chain work, and historical significance as representations of late 19th century fashion and technological transition.</p>
