This is a natural, unopened Kentucky geode nodule collected from limestone deposits in Kentucky. The exterior shows natural iron oxide staining and a knobby, irregular surface typical of geode nodules formed in limestone. This specimen weighs approximately 5.14 pounds and measures roughly 6–7 inches across at its widest point. Because the geode is unopened, the interior remains unknown and may contain quartz, chalcedony, calcite, or may be solid throughout. This is a normal and expected characteristic of unopened geode nodules. Kentucky geodes formed approximately 330–350 million years ago during the Mississippian Period when mineral-rich fluids crystallized within cavities and nodules in ancient marine limestone. This specimen is 100% natural and untreated. No dyes, coatings, or enhancements have been applied. You will receive the exact geode shown in the photos.
