Vintage Sears DC Power Timing Light Model 244.2117 offered strictly for parts, repair, restoration, or display. Sears Roebuck diagnostic tools have a loyal following with vintage automotive, marine engine, outboard, and classic inboard mechanics because they were simple, rugged service-bench tools made for real tune-up work before modern distributorless ignition systems took over.According to the Sears 244.2117 owner’s manual, this is a DC timing light intended for checking ignition timing to the engine manufacturer’s specifications. The manual notes use with an external 6 or 12 volt battery by connecting the red clip to positive and black clip to negative, and connecting the high-tension lead to the No. 1 spark plug. It also references magneto-system use with proper grounding, making this style useful to vintage marine and small-engine technicians when the application is compatible.
