Up for sale is a rare, beautifully preserved piece of 1920s Midwestern agricultural history—an official promotional pocket memorandum ledger issued by Rice Brothers Live Stock Commission Merchants, operating out of the historic Sioux City Stock Yards in Iowa.Features & Historical Content:Date of Manufacture: 1925 (Features a gorgeous, full-page printed 1925 calendar on the inside right flap).Interior Advertising: The inside left flap features a full-page printed advertisement listing company partners C.R. Rice, J.J. Donohue, and W.J. Downey, outlining their "Guarantee of Satisfaction" for shipping Cattle, Hogs, and Sheep.Exterior: Features a deep red, textured tri-fold wallet flap cover with ornate gold-gilt embossed lettering.Condition Details:Excellent Antique Condition: The interior paper advertising panels and calendar page are remarkably clean with crisp black typography and minimal aging or yellowing. The binding seams are fully intact, and the exterior gold lettering remains bright and highly legible. Please review photos for condition.Interior Pages: The notepad interior is mostly blank and unused, with the exception of one single page that features a wonderful, authentic handwritten antique recipe for "Raised Doughnuts" using vintage ingredients like lard and yeast cakes.A premier piece of Iowa regional history, livestock industry memorabilia, or 1920s advertising ephemera!
