This is a vintage Japanese made mini teacup. It is gold trimmed with a hand painted design on each, highlighting a Japanese nature scene. The mark on your teacup is the "M in Wreath" backstamp used by Morimura Bros. (which later became the world-renowned Noritake Company). Mark Details The Design: An iron-red stamp featuring a central letter "M" surrounded by an open wreath, with the text "MADE IN JAPAN" underneath. The Meaning: The "M" stands for Morimura, the founding family of the company. The Date: This specific style of the wreath mark with "Made in Japan" was introduced around 1918 and used extensively through the 1920s and 1930s. There is a small chip on the base (see photo).
