Social History: This postcard is a time capsule of the Jersey Shore in the mid-1970s:"Got here Tues. night late - great flight. at 9:30 it was still hot + humid. This "Shore" is quite a place and the red homes around it are really something. We start work on the races today so no more sightseeing. love, Jeri"The "red homes" mentioned likely refer to the distinctive historic red cedar-shingled cottages and patterned brick houses that are architectural hallmarks of the New Jersey shore.The "races" likely refers to Monmouth Park Racetrack or Atlantic City Race Course, which were in their prime in 1975.Scene: A vast, bright blue sky dominates the image, featuring a single distant kite, a red beach umbrella, and a classic "Greetings from the Jersey Shore" script. The card specifically notes that "Kite flying is popular at the Jersey Shore," a tradition that still defines the region today.Postal History: Mailed on July 16, 1975, it bears a purple 8-cent Dwight D.
