Social History: Coyote, Umatilla, Echo, and Gibbon were all vital stops along the historic Oregon Railroad and Navigation Company (OR&N) line. A "foreman" filling the "cars" up refers to a railroad, agricultural, or freight foreman loading up the train cars with cargo (likely wheat, lumber, or livestock common to the Umatilla region) before the train could head further down the track."Hello Grace.
