These postcards provide military and social history from World War I: a pair of original German Real Photo Postcards documenting the service and tragic fate of two German infantrymen:Card #1 (Left - 1918 Hans Bauer Memorial): This card features a crisp studio portrait with a poignant handwritten memorial inscription added directly to the lower front face. The text identifies him as Hans Bauer of the 13th Infantry Reserve Regiment, 8th Company (13. Inf. Res. Rgt., 8. Kompagnie). The script records him as missing in action (MIA) on July 18, 1918, in France.Card #2 (Right - 1916 Field Correspondence): This card depicts a different infantryman standing in full field uniform outdoors with a cigarette in his hand.
