The handwritten note serves as a time capsule of a mid-century tourist soaking in sweeping panoramic views of the Mexican capital:"One of those simple but effective works of art, this fountain is small but charming and highly appropriate to the stone-paved courtyard in front of the Castle of Chapultepec, (where I now sit writing and looking out over the great city of México,) for "Chapultepec" in the Aztec language means "Hill of Grasshoppers".
