This exceptional antique 1000 Korona banknote was officially issued on January 1, 1920, under the authority of the Kingdom of Hungary. Released during the turbulent aftermath of World War I and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this emergency issue was vital in stabilizing a volatile local economy upended by post-war restructuring.<br><br>Features King Saint Stephen I, the revered founder and patron saint of the Hungarian state who unified the region in 1000 AD.
