Vintage Robert Abels Antique Firearms and Edged Weapons Catalog No. 27, issued by Robert Abels, 860 Lexington Avenue (at 65th St.), New York, N.Y. An interesting original period sales and collectors catalog featuring extensive illustrated listings of antique arms and related historical collectibles. The catalog contains numerous black-and-white illustrations and descriptions with period prices for items including: Antique pistols and revolvers Flintlock and percussion firearms Rifles and military arms Swords and sabers Bayonets and edged weapons Armor and helmets Antique keys and locks Military and historical collectibles Other antique arms-related items The catalog numbering runs to approximately 190 pages and includes listings numbered into the 2400s. Especially interesting period material visible in this copy includes a Robert Abels order form, references to the Federal Firearms Act of 1938, and an advertisement for a 1949 Book List from Pan-American Trading Company. A reproduced/sample Robert Abels gift certificate shown near the beginning of the catalog is dated Dec. 10, 1949. Based on the period material contained in this copy, the catalog appears to date from approximately 1949. Exact publication date is not stated on the cover, so it is being described conservatively as circa 1949. Condition Notes This is an authentic-looking vintage period catalog with substantial age and handling wear. The red paper covers have heavy rubbing, scuffs, scratches, worn edges and corners, creasing and areas of surface/paper loss.
