Vintage Holmes & Edwards Century pattern silverplate flatware set, pattern introduced in 1923. The original storage chest is labeled: HOLMES & EDWARDS STERLING INLAID “Silverplate – Sterling Inlaid for Lifetime Beauty” Flatware is marked Holmes & Edwards Inlaid IS as shown. Knife blades are marked INSICO STAINLESS. 53 pieces total: 8 Dinner Knives 8 Dinner Forks 8 Smaller / Salad-Dessert Forks 16 Teaspoons 7 Medium / Soup-Place Spoons 4 Large Tablespoons / Serving Spoons 1 Master Butter Knife 1 Sugar / Small Serving Spoon Total: 53 pieces The pieces feature a matching ornate monogram that appears to be the letter “F.” Please use the close-up photographs to determine the monogram for yourself. Includes the vintage wooden anti-tarnish storage chest shown in the photographs. The bottom of the chest is marked “ET 20/53 S.” We have not independently determined the meaning of this marking and are not representing it as a manufacturing date. IMPORTANT MATERIAL DISCLOSURE This is NOT solid sterling silver flatware. “Sterling Inlaid” is the Holmes & Edwards trade terminology used for its silverplated flatware with sterling silver reinforcement/inlay at certain wear areas. The set is being sold and described as SILVERPLATE, not solid sterling silver. CONDITION DETAILS Vintage used set with visible signs of age and previous use. Expect scratches, utensil marks, tarnish, discoloration/patina and areas of finish wear. Some pieces show heavier scratching than others. The storage chest has substantial cosmetic wear from age and storage, including scratches, scuffs, worn finish, edge/corner wear and imperfections. Interior fabric and utensil holders also show age and use. The set has not been professionally graded, restored or polished by us. Please enlarge and examine all photographs.
