Vintage Harmony Soprano Ukulele – Chicago USA – Sunburst Faux-Flame Finish Offered here is an attractive vintage Harmony 4-string soprano ukulele, manufactured by The Harmony Company, Chicago, U.S.A. The instrument features a striking brown sunburst / faux-flame figured appearance, contrasting light-colored body binding and soundhole trim, dark fingerboard with position markers, wooden bridge, and vintage friction-style tuning machines with aged cream-colored buttons. The original Harmony headstock decal remains present and reads: HARMONY REG. U.S. PAT. OFFICE NO. 627,412 THE HARMONY COMPANY CHICAGO, U.S.A. The 627,412 marking is a Harmony trademark/registration reference and is not being represented as the instrument’s serial or model number. Approximate overall length is 21 inches, consistent with a soprano-size ukulele. Based on its Harmony Chicago markings, construction and styling, this appears consistent with mid-20th-century / approximately 1950s-1960s Harmony production. Exact production year and model have not been independently verified and are therefore not guaranteed. The attractive striped/flamed appearance of the finish is described here as faux-flame / figured appearance. The exact wood species has not been professionally identified, so no claim of koa, figured mahogany, or another specific tonewood is being made. CONDITION DETAILS This is a genuine vintage instrument and shows appropriate evidence of age and previous use. There are scratches, scuffs, finish wear, small marks, discoloration and wear/chipping along portions of the light-colored binding/trim. The tuning hardware shows oxidation/tarnish, and the cream-colored tuner buttons show age-related discoloration and wear.
