Celebrate American and naval history with this vintage 1976 United States Bicentennial ceramic mug. The cream-to-light-gray glazed mug features a wraparound blue illustration of the USS Constitution under sail. The historic naval frigate is famously known as “Old Ironsides.” The surrounding patriotic design includes stars and the dates 1776–1976, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the United States. The bottom is impressed “MADE IN JAPAN,” dating it to the era when many commemorative ceramics and souvenir pieces were imported for America’s Bicentennial celebration. This substantial vintage mug measures approximately 4½ inches tall and 3½ inches across the opening. It has a large curved handle and a raised footed base.
