Straight out of 1960s Greenwich Village. This cropped top carries the Gussie & Becky label, a Village / Seventh Avenue New York maker from the early 60s, right when MacDougal Street and the coffeehouse folk scene were in full swing. Sewn from imported Indian block-print cotton in the kalamkari tradition. It has that hand-printed, world-traveler, folk-revival feeling that defined downtown style in the Bob Dylan era.Measurements (laid flat): Chest, pit to pit: 19.5 in (about 39 in around) Length: 15.5 in Short sleeves with fringed cuffs Condition: true vintage, sold as-is. Softened, faded color consistent with sixty years of age. Please see photos, as they document the condition. Priced accordingly. A genuine artifact of 1960s downtown New York for collectors of vintage Indian textiles, folk and boho style, and true period pieces.
