This is a vintage wood jewelry or trinket box originally made in Japan. It features a hand-painted shabby chic or cottagecore blue-grey finish for a distressed, primitive look. The chest stands 8.2 inches tall, measures 5.75 inches side to side, and is 5.75 inches back to back. The cabinet includes two removable drawers flanked by turned side pillars. The lower drawer features a distinct ornate metal lyre (harp) pull, and the top drawer has a decorative floral knob. Key Details: Construction: Wood with metal hardware. Finish: Distressed paint style. Please note: One lower side panel is unpainted, and the back is also unpainted. Origin: Stamped "Made in Japan" on the wood base. Condition: This item is vintage and not mint. The interior of the top drawer shows wear (see pics). Important Scent Note: The interior of the drawers has a pepper-like smell. I am not sure of the cause, but it is noticeable. Functional Note: This piece has been gutted and painted. There are holes in the back where a musical movement once was, but it no longer functions as a music box. It is being sold strictly as a decorative storage chest or jewelry cabinet.
