The History of the Worthies of England (1840) - Volumes II & III Up for sale is a fascinating, consecutive pair of genuine 1840 editions of Thomas Fuller's classic historical work: "The History of the Worthies of England" (Volumes 2 and 3), edited by P. Austin Nuttall. These antiquarian volumes feature matching period half-leather bindings with beautiful marbled boards and edges, carrying incredible colonial and military history. Item Specifics: Author: Thomas Fuller, D.D. Publisher: Thomas Tegg, 73 Cheapside, London Publication Year: 1840 (M.DCCC.XL) Binding: Matching Half-Leather / Hardcover with Marbled Paper Volumes Included: Volume 2 AND Volume 3 (Completes 2/3 of the full historical set) Unique Provenance & History: These are officially withdrawn ex-library copies from the South African College Library / University of Cape Town. Condition Report: Condition: Acceptable (Ex-Library). Both volumes show heavy shelf and spine wear typical for their age. The leather spines are rubbed, with chipping at the tops (Volume 3 has visible loss to the upper spine leather). Volume 2 has a detached but present front flyleaf. Internal text blocks remain intact, firmly bound, and fully legible with expected 19th-century age-toning and mild foxing.
