For sale is a genuine, large piece of U.S. Mint Pre-1982 Copper Cent Planchet Webbing (also known as coinage strip scrap or planchet skeleton). This is the leftover sheet material from which blank copper cent planchets were punched out before the coins were struck.Key Features & Details:Authentic Mint Material: Pre-1982 cents were made of 95% copper / 5% zinc alloy. This webbing shows the classic hexagonal/circular punch pattern used to create cent blanks.Size: Measures 7½ inches across the top and approximately 8⅛ inches tall. A substantial display piece compared to typical small webbing strips.Visual Appeal: Beautiful golden-brass patina with dozens of clean circular holes. The edges show the characteristic scalloped/punched border from the minting process.Historical Significance: After 1982, the U.S. Mint switched to copper-plated zinc planchets. Pre-1982 copper webbing is much scarcer than the more commonly seen 1943 steel cent webbing. This is a cool artifact of U.S. coin production history!This would make an excellent addition to any error coin collection, minting process display, or copper/numismatic scrap collection. Similar (but much smaller) steel cent webbing pieces sell for hundreds of dollars.
