Brand: Champion "Designed in Wisconsin". Nott the modern Champion athletic wear brand from Rochester, NY. Era: 1950s. You have an exact date on this piece thanks to the sleeve patch: 1953–1954. Size: Tagged "S-A" (Small - Adult). Material: While there's no fabric tag visible, shirts of this era and style are almost always a rayon or gabardine blend. It has that classic, heavy drape. Cut & Style: Men’s/Unisex long-sleeve, button-up front, dual button-flap chest pockets, and a classic 50s loop collar (camp collar). Graphics & Patches: Left Sleeve: Embroidered "ABC League Champion 1953 1954" patch featuring a bald eagle shield. (ABC stands for American Bowling Congress). Back: A large, dark felt patch with white chain-stitch embroidery spelling out "Hartford City Paper Co." and the name "Gail". The History (The "Story") The Local Connection: Hartford City Paper Co. was a real manufacturing mill operating out of Hartford City, Indiana in the early-to-mid 20th century.
