Origin & Craftsmanship: Vintage Indian hand-carved wood bookends / high-relief statues, likely mid-late 20th century. Executed in a dense, heavy hardwood with a warm natural teak/sheesham finish.Goddess Saraswati (Left): Depicted holding her sacred stringed instrument, the veena, alongside a mala and scriptural manuscript, with her vehicle (vahana), the peacock, carved at her feet.Goddess Gayatri / River Deity (Right): Depicted holding lotus blossoms in a seated pose with her foot resting upon her sacred tortoise (kurma) vehicle.Dimensions: Each piece measures 12 inches high x 6.5 to 7 inches wide x 2.75 inches deep.Condition: Very good vintage condition with rich, untouched hand-carved depth. Heavy and sturdy for architectural display or functional bookends. Displays natural wood grain variations, slight surface drying, and minor stress line checks expected with aged solid timber (notably along the lower left edge of the Saraswati piece).
