Henkle & Grosse Germany Gold Plated & White Enamel Necklace dating between 1955-1957. At the start of the company in 1907 Henkle & Grosse produced only gold settings. In 1920 they began making costume jewelry starting in the the European Market and then moved into sales in the US in the late 1920sIn 1937 Henkle & Grosse received a certificate of honor at the Paris Exposition.From World War II on the company began to be known as Grosse. And in 1955 Grosse became the principle manufacture for Dior for which it created four annual collections.Grosse's costume jewelry was made with gold & rhodium-plated base metals, Prong Set Rhinestones, Faux Pearls, Lapis, Turquoise & Rubies.Starting in 1958 on Grosse dated all of its jewelry whether from Grosse or the Dior Collections.This piece is an example of one of their high quality gold plated pieces that is both luxurious and sophisticated that would add am elegant touch to any outfit. The Grosse Germany mark is high quality german design often directly tied to the Christian Diors Couture line.
