Ferro Toso, and was recognized as a Maestro before he was 20 years old. He worked under famed artist Napoleone Martinuzzi in the mid-1930s, opening his own furnace called Vetreria Alfredo Barbini is 1950. Experimenting throughout his career with glass’s plasticity, he created delicately colored organic and biomorphic objects, in addition to figurative models and animals.This Opalescent pinkish with a hint of a light lavender color is a stunning but subtle piece. Unfortunately during the 1950s when this bowl was likely made stickers were used to identify the artist and confirmation of murano glass. Through very extensive research and getting a second opinion from an appraiser who specifically deals with glass art this is a murano piece done by Alfredo Barbini around the 1950s time period.Barbini’s sculptural Murano creations are celebrated for their organic curves and optical depth. This exquisite example embodies the artistry and innovation of mid-century Italian glassmaking and makes a sophisticated centerpiece for any modern or Art Deco interior.
