Antique Victorian Sentimental Mourning Brooch Pin Sepia Photo Portrait Twisted Rope Frame C-Clasp c1880s This charming piece of antique Victorian sentimental / mourning jewelry dates to the late 19th century (circa 1880s). The front showcases an authentic, beautifully aged sepia-toned photographic portrait of a young person with braided hair. The portrait is encased under its original protective glass cover within a classic gold-tone twisted rope-style border. The reverse features a complete look at its authentic period construction, retaining an excellent dark patina. It is built with a traditional horizontal pin mechanism utilizing an elongated tube hinge and a simple open C-clasp catch, with the pin extension beautifully extending beyond the outer edge of the frame—a signature design metric of the Victorian era. The backing plate and photo assembly are securely held in place by flat, original metal fold-over prongs along the inner rim. • Era: Victorian (c. 1870–1890) • Front Details: Sepia photo portrait, glass cover, twisted rope border design • Reverse Mechanics: Long horizontal pin, early tube hinge, original C-clasp mechanism • Markings: Unsigned / unbranded (common for sentimental mementos of this era) • Condition: Very good antique condition with age-appropriate wear and an elegant, undisturbed dark patina on the rear metal backing plate.
