Size and condition above come from the listing. The description below is the seller’s own text.
This charming cookie jar resembles a stack of Lorna Doone shortbread cookies made by Nabisco. The ceramic jar is an estate-sale find, believed to be from the 1960s and made in Japan. Measuring 6" tall and 5.5" square, the top text replaces the classic cookie's name with the words Short Bread, though features a strikingly similar design. Rich color variations of tan and brown match the cookie amazingly well, though note some of my photos fail to capture this.Manufacturer: A sticker on the bottom reads GHC Japan, referencing a mid-century manufacturer of porcelain and ceramic goods. Near identical jars were made with HH Japan stickers, indicating manufacture by Holt Howard. I'm unsure if the companies are connected or whether the same design was licensed to both or simply copied. (Feel free to message me if you can clarify.)Condition: Very clean inside and out with great paint color and no cracks. The only chips appear on the jar opening where the top and bottom pieces touch with the top showing some paint wear spots and the bottom with paint wear on all edges as some larger chips mainly on one edge. The sides show some light scuffs as can be seen in the photos. The bottom has some sticker remnants. May have other minor flaws. See photos (which capture all sides of the jar) to evaluate.Enjoy this delicious piece of nostalgia to store your favorite cookies, treats, or nick-knacks.Shipping & Returns: Item will be packed carefully and double-boxed to ensure it survives postal treatment. Upgraded shipping and insurance provided as feasible.
