This particular 1898 copy is from the decorative Art Lovers' Series. While the exterior cloth has suffered notable damage over time, the interior text block and all historical plates remain fully intact and well-preserved. It is an ideal, complete reference or reading copy for art historians, students, or collectors focused on interior content and plate restoration.Condition ReportThis book is in Fair / Acceptable collectible condition.Overall Assessment: An excellent reference copy with a clean, fully complete interior text block and illustrations, though it displays heavy, severe structural shelf-wear to the outer spine and hinges.Dust Jacket: No Dust Jacket (As issued).Pages: Interior pages remain completely intact and clean. Displays expected, uniform natural age toning/browning appropriate to a book over a century old, but free from major text blemishes.Markings: No interior writing, highlights, or severe text disruptions.Binding: The original blue cloth over the spine is completely missing, entirely exposing the inner lining binding paper underneath. The front hinge is heavily frayed, and the front cloth board displays heavy scuffing. Crucially, the internal text block remains completely bound, secure, and structurally intact.Illustrations & Tissue Guard: Every single original photogravure illustration plate is fully present and structurally attached. The fragile protective tissue guard remains completely intact over the frontispiece print.
