Authentic mid-century Mexican modernist jewelry piece featuring a handcrafted sterling silver openwork celestial Aztec Sun Face brooch. The silver overlay sits atop a brilliant mosaic of natural iridescent abalone shell pieces (concha de abulón), showcasing an intense multicolor flash of green, blue, pink, and violet depending on the light angle. Design/Functionality: Convertible 2-in-1 piece. Features a traditional pin backing with a rollover safety clasp, alongside an integrated, hidden sterling silver pendant bail loop soldered securely to the top reverse edge. It can be worn as a standard statement brooch or effortlessly slipped onto a silver chain to be worn as a necklace pendant (chain not included). Specifications: Material: Guaranteed .925 Sterling Silver & Natural Abalone. Origin: Handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico. Era: Vintage Mid-Century Modern (circa 1950s–1970s).
