Up for sale is a historic 1870 Queen Victoria Canadian 5-Cent silver piece. This coin marks the monumental first year of national decimal coinage ever issued by the Dominion of Canada!Coin Specifics & Key Attributes:Year: 1870Denomination: 5 Cents (colloquially called a silver "fishscale")Catalog Reference: KM# 2Composition: 92.5% Sterling SilverMintage Scarcity: Very low initial production of just 2,800,000.Confirmed Variety: Raised Border (Narrow Rim) paired with the Obverse 2 (OF2) Portrait. Features a sharply defined upper eyelid and a distinct, elegant hair curve moving down into her braid.Condition Note:This is a honestly circulated coin showing typical wear for a silver piece that is over 150 years old. I would estimate this coin falls into the Very Good to Fine (VG-F) grading tier. It features clean, natural toning with fully intact, legible lettering and dates. The reverse crown and 21-leaf maple wreath are entirely present. The coin has solid structural integrity with no drill holes, severe cleaning scratches, or rim bends.Shipping & Handling:The coin will be securely packaged inside a protective 2x2 coin flip and taped down to an index card to ensure it does not slide around or get damaged by post office sorting machines.
