A classic and beautifully crafted vintage Murano art glass Pierrot clown figurine — a timeless form produced by Venetian artisans at the height of the Murano glass clown era. DETAILS:• Height: approx. 28cm• Body: white opaline egg-shaped glass with applied blue stripe detailing• Five applied orange glass buttons down the front• Red-orange flowing glass collar• Yellow glass curly hair with black pointed witch-style hat• Expressive face with white, red and pink detail• Blue glass cuffs with white opaque glass gloved hands• Black glass shoe base• Handmade in Murano, Italy• Excellent vintage condition — no chips, cracks or repairsMurano glass clowns were produced in their heyday from the 1950s through to the 1980s by skilled Venetian artisans using traditional hand-blowing techniques. The Pierrot — the melancholy white-suited clown of Italian commedia dell’arte — is one of the most recognisable and sought-after Murano clown forms.A beautiful display piece for a shelf, cabinet or sideboard.
