This beautiful MCM 1950s lidded ceramic dish features an abstract, marbleized vein pattern in a vibrant turquoise and sea-green glaze, elegantly accented with bright gold trim on the rim and handle. Perfect to use as a candy dish, sugar or salt cellar, or a chic vanity trinket box. Measures approximately 3 1/2" tall (with lid) and 4 1/2" in diameter.For collectors and enthusiasts of Dutch art pottery, this piece carries a wonderful historicalstory! While this lidded dish features the signature mid-century marbleized turquoise and gold glaze proprietary to the famous Jumbo Gouda pottery line, the base is stamped "5 HOLLAND HANDPAINTED DELFT." During the mid-20th century post-war boom, Dutch factories utilized a brilliant marketing tactic. Because the name "Delft" was not legally protected at the time, manufacturers like Jumbo Gouda stamped "Delft" onto their export items to instantly signal high-quality Dutch craftsmanship to international tourists and buyers, even though this style is distinctly a Gouda-type veined art pottery rather than traditional blue-and-white Delftware.
