Add a touch of 1970s rustic charm to your decor with this vintage chalkware figurine from the Universal Statuary Corp. Dated 1975 and marked #821, this piece depicts a young peasant woman in traditional dress leaning against a large woven basket. The hand-painted finish features a lovely combination of slate blue, terracotta, and earth tones. The basket is functional as well as decorative, serving as a small planter or a unique vessel for trinkets. Condition Notes (CYA - Please Read) As is common with vintage chalkware, this piece shows some signs of its 50-year history: Paint/Finish: There are scattered "flea bite" paint chips and minor scuffs, most notably on the girl’s blue vest, the back of her red skirt, and along the textured base. Base: There is a visible hairline crack/seam near the hallmark on the base (see close-up photos). The piece remains structurally sound and heavy.
